All its artistic forces are in action, offering their time and energy, joined by all organizations affiliated to the Municipality of Athens, trying to give to all a message of celebration and happiness, but of optimism and new meaning as well, that of solidarity, of collectiveness and of participation.
This year's festive season, although it includes plenty of activities, it has no financial cost. It is all provided voluntarily and of course it is also offered for free to all, while it aims at offering joy mainly to children. It is planned with lots of creativity, thanks to its new creative and artistic teams and is spread throughout the city, to every corner the Municipality of Athens can reach, depending solely on its own forces.
So, this year, without any activities or events being assigned to third parties, the organizing team of the Municipality has limited the cost of its festivities to a record minimum level.
.....But still maintaining its maximum expectations! 10 different festivals, which we aim to be established to the city's every year activities, will bring out the real profile of Athens: of a city that is different, dynamic, full of energy, that loves its traditional sour-orange trees and not the oversized Christmas trees!

The festivals, each one with a different theme, will give the vibe of the holiday season for 30 days and nights in the main squares of the city: Syntagma, Klauthmonos and Kotzia square while at the same time they will be expanded to 17 neighborhoods of the city. More than 700 artists will assist this effort, musicians, music groups, singers, dancers, representatives of fine arts, actors, jogglers....
The festivities will commence on Friday, December 9th and the "signal" will be given by the Mayor of Athens, George Kaminis, at Syntagma Square at an alternative "lightening of the tree" celebration.
Nine of the festivals will take place in December and one in January: : "Music of the World" (16-18/12 Klauthmonos Square), "Magic Children's Square" (17-31/12 Syntagma square), the "Tiny Days" (20-21/12 Technopolis and Institut Francais d'Athenes), "Jazzy Christmas" (22-24/12, Klauthmonos Square), the "Chorus Festival" (23/12, Kotzia Square), juggling Festival "The Toy's neighborhood" (27-29/12, Syntagma Square and the Rouf Closed Gym), "New Music Stage" (27-29/12, Klauthmonos Square), "Classic Orchestra Festival" (28-31/12, Kotzia Square)
Upon the arrival of the New Year, the "Expression" festival will commence, with the participation of young artists (January 3-5 at the Muncipality of Athens Anna and Maria Calouta Cultural Center, in the area of Neos Kosmos)
New Year's Eve, will be celebrated at Kotzia square with a musical "outbreak", full of surprises.
For the planning of all these events, the Municipality of Athens, the cultural heart of Athens, the "Technopolis" Organization is collaborating with all the Municipality's Organizations: the City of Athens Cultural Organisation, the City of Athens Youth & Sport Organisation, the Athens Municipal Creche, the City of Athens Homeless Center (KYADA), the Athens Tourism & Economic Development Company, the City of Athens It Company (DAEM SA), the City of Athens Music Ensembles, the Athens Municipal Police, the City of Athens Social Welfare Department and the Athina Municipal Radio 9.84fm Stereo.
