Wallace Shawn's "The Fever" at Theatro Technis

Award winning play THE FEVER by Wallace Shawn will be presented for three nights only on 12, 13 and 14th May at 9.00 pm at the Theatro Technis – Karolos Koun, Frynichou 14, in Plaka near the Acropolis metro station, in the original English language. It will be performed by British actress Carrie Sharp

Gerolymbos and directed by Anglo-Greek actress and director Jeanna L’Esty and all proceeds will go to the charity MAP – Medical Aid for Palestinians – as a gesture of support for continuing recovery from the devastating events of 2009. The play has been described as a profoundly dramatic and engaging journey through the awakening of a pampered conscience and won the Obie award for best play. The play examines urgent issues very close to the surface in today's world.


"While visiting a poverty-stricken country far from home, the unnamed narrator (performer) of The Fever is forced to consider the political persecution that may be occurring just beyond a traveler's hotel window".
The play has been described as a "profoundly dramatic and engaging journey through the awakening of a pampered conscience". The narrator of the play says, "How does one celebrate life, take pleasure in beauty, for instance while slowly becoming aware that the poverty and oppressed condition of other human beings are a direct consequence of one's own pleasurable existence?'
