Music Afternoons at the Acropolis Museum

Continuing the "A day in the Acropolis Museum" programme, the Acropolis Museum, in cooperation with City of Athens Technopolis, presents the series of music concerts "Greek ways meet the international music anthology" on the 22nd and 29th of March and on 5th of April on the balcony of the second floor,

overlooking the Archaic Statues Gallery. Moreover, on the 25th of March 2011, Independence Day, the Museum will be open from 8 am to 8 pm, with free entrance to all.

The Athens Philharmonic Orchestra will present a music programme at 5pm, on the ground floor of the museum, with view towards the Ekatompedon pediment.

On this day, in the Parthenon Hall, a new metope, the "North no. 32" will be revealed. The specific metope was saved from the destruction that took place in the 5th century because it was regarded that its subject was the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It has been recently moved from the Parthenon, and after its conservation, it is now presented again to the public.

Thursday, March the 29th, 5pm: "Heptanesian composers of the National School meet Romantics", "Metallon" brass quintet.

Thursday, April the 5th, 5pm: "Greek and Turkish composers of Constantinople", Christos Tsiamoulis & Socrates Sinopoulos.
